Danny Bryan Powers, 76, of Lincoln, CA formerly of Clinton, IL passed away 11:20 PM June 12, 2026, at his home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital Chicago, IL in honor and memory of his nephew, David Torbert. https://www.luriechildrens.org/DannyPowers Danny was born May 6, 1950, in Clinton, IL the son of James Herman and Brownie Ellen (Bryan) Powers. He married LaVerne (Vinson), May 12, 1972, in Clinton, IL. Survivors include his wife, LaVerne Powers, Lincoln, CA; children: Bryan Powers, Reno, NV and Robbie Powers, Clinton, IL; siblings Harlan (Barbara) Powers, Clinton, IL, Lindy (Ann) Powers, Clinton, IL and Denise (John) Torbert, Clinton, IL. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, paternal grandparents, James & Johanna Powers, maternal grandparents, Foster & Cleavy Bryan and two special nephews, Michael Vinson and David Torbert. Dan graduated from Clinton High School in 1968 where he excelled in all sports. He attended Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL. He served his country for 6 years as a medic in the United States National Guard. Dan worked for the ICG railroad for 20 years before relocating to Loveland, Colorado as an engineer with Amtrak. Later he was promoted to trainmaster in Sacramento, California. Danny was very well known and respected by his railroad family throughout his 40 years. He retired in 2013 from his lifelong career. Dan loved the Chicago Cubs along with fishing, playing golf, bowling and playing cards. He was always the life of the party and never met a stranger. Danny will be remembered for his outgoing personality, kindness and humor. He loved to spend time reminiscing and storytelling with friends and family. Dan was loved and cherished by all who knew him and will be deeply missed.
